Wunderkammer is a museum, an artistic action, a political act, a sort of stunt. The museum collects and catalogues urban places interpreted by those who live in them or by those who pass by. These places are fragments over which the subjective look impresses a particular meaning which was born from habit, love and acquaintance.

These places are fragments over which the subjective look impresses a particular meaning which was born from habit, love and acquaintance.

The Wunderkammer collection is made of glances and unconscious which, with their multiplicity and heterogeneity, contribute to create a collective perspective of the city. The Scientific Committee examines the donation proposals made by the citizens, acquires the pieces for the Collection and catalogues every proposal in the Wunderkammer Archive.

All the curators who want to collaborate have complete access to the Archive and to the Collection. Moreover, they can autonomously acquire new pieces.

The Wunderkammer was a private "wonder-room", the collector's kingdom of the 16th and 17th Century. On one hand the dusty and suggestive image of the Wunderkammer recalls the time of the heroical collecting and ordering of the world, that acrobatic act which projects the wonder-room and all its extraordinary contents from the private world to the public one.

On the other hand, Wunderkammer is also the city, the wonderful heterogeneity for which it stands, a precious and elusive multiplicity of urban facts to experience. The circular motion that passes through the wonder-room, between public and private, individual and collective, memory and present, causes a short circuit in the separation, which is a consequence of the world's confinement in the museum dimension, a "museification" of the world. 

This is how one of the birth places of the museum allows us to open a critical reflexion about the struggle between the institutions and the city, the territorial policy and the individual unconscious.
